Nuclear energy is of the greatest tools discovered by mankind. While this source of power is utilized for the development of economies, industries and for the overall improvement of life, it may also be misused in the form of weapons of mass destruction.

Therefore, international rules have been established to regulate and supervise the use of nuclear energy.

Korea is keeping abreast with other countries in the development of its nuclear industry. Accordingly, our country shall endeavor to promote the peaceful utilization of nuclear energy and adhere to its international obligations for nuclear nonproliferation.

The Korea Institute of Nuclear Nonproliferation and Control(KINAC) was established on June 30, 2006 to enhance the professional capabilities of Korea's nuclear industry and to ensure compliance with international treaties and regulatory trends.

As the third president of KINAC, I will do my best to ensure that the nuclear energy activities in our country will win the recognition and confidence from people both here and abroad.
