HISTORY The History of Nuclear Nonproliferation and Security in Korea and KINAC

  • 2016
    • The International Nuclear Non-Proliferation & Security Academy (INSA) acquired the certification of ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System)
  • 2014
    • Opened INSA at KINAC to fulfil the commitment of the 2nd Global Nuclear Security Summit held in Seoul 2012
    • Hosted the International Physical Protection Advisory Service (IPPAS) mission
  • 2012
    • Designated as a training organization for physical protection by NSSC
      Hosted the 2nd Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul
    • Signed the Enhanced Cooperation (EC) agreement under the IAEA Integrated Safeguards (IS)
  • 2011
    • Established the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission (NSSC)
  • 2008
    • Began implementing the IS (Integrated Safeguards)
  • 2006
    • Established Korea Institute of Nuclear Nonproliferation and Control (KINAC)
  • 2004
    • The Additional Protocol (AP) was ratified and entered into force
    • Established National Nuclear Management and Control Agency(NNCA) at KINS
  • 1997
    • Activated the national inspection system for nuclear Material Control and Accountancy (MC&A)
  • 1995
    • Secured membership status in the Nuclear Supply Group (NSG) and the Zangger Committee for export control
  • 1994
    • Established the Technology Center for Nuclear Control (TCNC) at KAERI
